What does a person need to do to improve wireless internet speed (accessing internet through card in computer with Verizon)? How much is a signal booster and does it make a difference?

This is going to depend on why your signal isnt strong to start.
Look at where you are typically using the system. Are you near other electronics? (Microwaves are signal killers)
If this is one of the verizon dial up cards, do you get decent cell coverage where you are? Do you live in a metal-shelled house that kills the signal? Are there no towers near by? If this is the case, you may be out of luck, as those cards dont provide an external antenna that can be replaced with a more powerful one.
