i have wireless Internet on my laptop through my desktop provided by linksys router?

when i am out and about with my laptop i want to be able to pick up a wider (booster) range of wireless internet in the surrouning areas so i brought a linksys wireless-n USB Network Adapter model # WUSB300N. can someone please tell me if i brought the right thing?

Where can I get a signal booster for cheap?

I drive a truck for a living and travel all over the country. I have Sprint wireless service and in many places the signal is either weak or non existant. Tried to get a signal booster at a truck stop but they charge $300. Is there a place where I can get one for cheap?
This is for my Toshiba lap top.
I would like to but I’m only 6 months into a 2 year contract.

it’s not illegal to buy a wireless adapter.
If fact, you can now buy antenna boosters.
can we assume that if someone does not have wep security on, they don’t care if someone connects?
so far I’ve found no laws against it in N.Y.
please correct me if I’m wrong.
